Kelly Hu - Short Bio
Kelly Ann Hu (Born February 13, 1968) is an American actress. She is a former fashion model who also held the Miss Teen USA 1985 title.
Kelly Hu was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her ethnic background is a mixture of Chinese, Hawaiian, and English.
Kelly’s cousin was a successful model in Japan and Hu decided to follow her example. To gain publicity, she entered Miss Teen USA contest in 1985. Kelly has mentioned in interviews that her mother had told her America was not ready for an Asian as such a prominent role model.
However, Kelly became the first Asian American to win the title anyway. Ironically she found out after winning that she was prohibited from appearing in non-contest related activities for the year of her reign.

In 1998, Kelly earned her brown belt in karate, and was offered a role in a new kung fu cop series, Martial Law. Kelly Hu starred opposite Dwayne Johnson (aka the Rock) in 2002’s The Scorpion King, the prequel to the runaway hit The Mummy.
Apart from movies she has also been successful in tv series. During the first quarter of 2007, Kelly completed filming the film Stilleto, and after that, The Farmhouse.
